The iPhone 17 event is finally official with the slogan “Awe dropping,” taking place on Tuesday, September 9.
We’re expecting Apple to announce either six or seven new devices, alongside some possible new iPhone cases and Watch bands too …
The September 9 lineup
Here’s what we’re expecting to see:
iPhone 17
iPhone 17 Air
iPhone 17 Pro
iPhone 17 Pro Max
Apple Watch Series 11
Apple Watch Ultra 3
With the possibility also of:
AirPods Pro 3
Additionally, we may see a new premium case material called TechWoven. Personally, I’m surprised Apple would choose a name so reminiscent of the lamentable FineWoven material from 2023, but that’s the rumor. New silicon cases may use the branding “Liquid Silicone.”
Finally, new watches generally mean new watch bands too.
What are you most looking forward to?
Many will of course be eagerly awaiting one of the new iPhones, while others may be content to keep their existing one for another year or two yet.
I’ve so far been sucked into replacing my iPhone each year for new camera capabilities. The rumors this year suggest all three cameras will have 48-megapixel sensors, which isn’t such a draw for me. Similarly, I’m not interested in the rumoured 8x telephoto lens in the Pro models. However, some reports suggest that this will be a variable optical zoom lens, and if it has optical capabilities in the 1x to 3x range, then that could be appealing. So far, I’m thinking I might sit this year out, but we’ll see if Apple has any surprises to change my mind.
How about you? Please take our poll and share your thoughts in the comments.
