DJI is taking yet another cue from Insta360. The China-based company recently pulled the curtain on its first 360 camera, the Antigravity A1, but there are more unique cameras to rip off. DJI may also have a “Nano” action camera with a detachable pod, something very close in shape and capabilities to the recent Insta360 Go Ultra. Even if DJI is stuck copying its competitor, at least it’s bringing something new to the world of action cameras, unlike a certain company that rhymes with “Slow no.”
Noted leaker Jasper Ellens reported on DroneXL (via TechRadar) on the alleged Osmo Nano action camera. Instead of your regular rectangular GoPro-shaped device, like DJI’s own Osmo Action 5 Pro, the Osmo Nano includes a small magnetic pod that can reportedly change its magnetic polarity to stick to practically any ferromagnetic surface in whatever orientation you need. You would control and see your footage through the main unit. If you wanted to use it like a regular action camera, you could keep it stuck to the screen and use DJI’s normal GoPro-like mount. The DJI Osmo Nano would likely be a spiritual successor to the DJI Action 2. That device was a modular cube-shaped camera with a miniscule screen and magnetic attachment points.
👉Here is our little Osmo Nano, which is set to compete with Go Ultra.
✅Built-in memory 64 GB / 128 GB
✅OLED touchscreen for one-handed control.
✅Charges from the module to 80% in just 20 minutes.
✅SD card slot
✅Magnetic body for mounting anywhere#osmonano pic.twitter.com/12tvl5ZMDf — Igor Bogdanov (@Quadro_News) August 28, 2025
The device appears to be modeled more on the Insta360 Go 3S than the new Ultra. Fellow leaker Igor Bogdanov on X shared the supposed product sheet. The translation, provided by Bogdanov, claims that the device includes a small camera module shaped like Insta360’s older Go 3S. That pod attaches via magnets to the top of a main body complete with an OLED touchscreen. The device would have 64GB or 128GB of internal storage and still support a microSD card.
Zooming in on the leaked technical document, you can see how DJI wants people to use small magnetic mounts to place the camera on the top of a hat, on your shirt, or even on a dog’s collar to use your furry friend to take some low-down POV shots. What’s still missing is any information on the camera size and quality. No matter their size, action cameras will still pale in comparison to phones with a larger sensor. The DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro did better than some other devices in low light, but these devices are built for sports nuts who want to show off their snowboard and surfing skills without risking their larger phones.
I’ve been using the Insta360 Go Ultra, which swapped from an oval-shaped pop-out camera to a rectangular pod. This offers a larger, 1/1.28-inch sensor than the previous Insta360 Go models. The camera’s zoom levels are still severely limited, but the benefit of sticking the pod anywhere means you can grab some shots you normally wouldn’t, even with a GoPro-sized device. Meanwhile, GoPro—once the go-to for action cams—is batting cleanup with recent leaks suggesting it’s planning a 360 camera dubbed the Max 2, a sequel to the company’s first 360 camera from 2019. Patents suggest GoPro is also working on its own modular design.
