IFA 2025 is chock full of RGB-bleeding gaming laptops, cassette tape Bluetooth boomboxes, Nvidia AI computing (gotta have that), and, of course, this Max Headphones Charging Stand from reputable accessory maker Mophie. Unlike the thousands of other charging stands available to buy from every brand under the sun, this one actually does something different that I’ve not seen before: it charges both a pair of AirPods Max and a pair of AirPods or AirPods Pro. Mophie says it’s the “first dedicated charging stand engineered for AirPods Max,” which explains why I haven’t seen anything like it yet (the clones are probably already circling). But does this thing charge AirPods Max through its USB-C port with a plug or wirelessly? Technically, magnetically. You need to plug a magnetic USB-C dongle into your AirPods Max’s USB-C port and leave it there. Then, when you drop the headphones into the Max Headphones Charging Stand, it’ll draw power from that dongle. It’s no wonder the dongle is the last photo in Mophie’s product page gallery. At $150, the Max Headphones Charging Stand is not cheap—that’s a third of the price of AirPods Max—but you at least don’t need to use the included bra-shaped Smart Case that comes with the ANC’s over-ear headphones to put them into low power/sleep mode. The price also gets you what appears to be solid build quality—an aluminum base and soft-touch silicone cups (that help prevent scratches, apparently) to slot AirPods Max into. The silicone USB-C cable I’m not so sure of; it should be braided IMO. The Max Headphones Charging Stand also has an LED light in the base that lights up when charging begins, though it doesn’t tell you the charging status for any of the headphones. If you don’t have AirPods or AirPods Pro, the wireless charging pad supports any Qi-based wireless earbuds or device (like a smartwatch if it works with the charging protocol). The Max Headphones Charging Stand looks like an elegant way to charge all your AirPods if you’re all in on Apple audio. Leave it to Mophie to make something that Apple should sell itself.
