While we wait for the F1 movie’s streaming debut, Apple has just dropped a new feature film starring Denzel Washington, Highest 2 Lowest directed by Spike Lee. You can stream the movie for free right now with an Apple TV+ subscription.
Highest 2 Lowest is a modern adaptation of a 1963 classic High and Low by Akira Kurosawa. In this version, Washington plays a modern New York music mogul, named David King, whose child is apparently kidnapped and held for ransom.
The twist in the story is the realization that the crook has not actually captured King’s child. In a case of mistaken identity, it’s actually his child’s friend that has been taken. When he believed it was his son under threat, King is eager to comply with the demands and ready to pay up the $17 million ransom.
But when he finds his son safe and well, he has a moral dilemma about whether he can afford to use the funds to save someone he knows only indirectly.
Highest 2 Lowest received a limited two-week theatrical run in select cinemas, as a courtesy to the creators. It also makes the film eligible for the upcoming awards season. However, it is now available widely on Apple’s streaming service, Apple TV+. The film has received a warm critical reception, sitting at 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Apple TV+ now costs $12.99 per month, but you can get a free seven day trial for new accounts here. You can also get Apple TV+ as part of the Apple One bundle. Some carrier plans also include TV+ as a free perk.
Watch Highest 2 Lowest using the Apple TV app. You can get the app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV set-top box, Xbox, PlayStation, smart TVs, Comcast Xfinity and more. You can also even get Apple TV+ through Amazon Prime Video Channels feature.
