Whatever you do, don’t invite the creepy witch into your home. That is, of course, unless it’s on your TV and you’re sitting on the couch. One of this summer’s biggest surprise hits, Weapons, is now ready to make its trek home, and it’s arriving incredibly soon. The unique, sprawling horror film is coming to digital on September 9, followed by a physical release on October 14.
Written and directed by Zach Cregger, Weapons is the story of a town shattered by a horrific event. One evening, an entire classroom of children get out of their beds, run into the woods, and never return. The film explores how and why that happened through the interwoven stories of their teacher (Julia Garner), one of their fathers (Josh Brolin), the school principal (Benedict Wong), a police officer (Alden Ehrenreich), a drug addict (Austin Abrams), and finally, the only student from the class who didn’t disappear (Cary Christopher).
The film has grossed almost $140 million domestically and about $250 million globally; it was the number one movie at the box office as recently as this past weekend. That’ll change this weekend, so Warner Bros. is taking advantage of the still powerful, but slowing, momentum to get the movie into your home.
So, first, it’ll be available digitally wherever you choose to buy your movies—Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango, etc.—and then, on October 14, just in time for Halloween, it’ll come home with 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD options. The list of special features isn’t great, but it’s not bad. There are three featurettes, which are described as follows:
