The stars of Gavin and Stacey, one of the most popular BBC series in the UK, are set to write, produce and act in a new Apple TV+ drama, according to the Daily Mail. James Corden and Ruth Jones have apparently signed a deal with Apple on a new series set to go into production next year. The show is described as “full of heart and warmth”, which certainly vibes with the theme of many of Apple’s most popular comedies. Corden, who used to present The Late Late Show in the US, already has a working relationship with Apple TV+ thanks to Carpool Karaoke. Carpool Karaoke: The Series streams exclusively on the service. Corden has also featured in Apple Music marketing campaigns in the past. He even once drove Tim Cook to the keynote stage in the intro for the iPhone 7 event. That relationship probably helped Apple win the rights to the project, as well as a quoted seven figure offer funded from Apple’s deep pockets, of course. Apple has not officially confirmed the series order, yet. Jones and Corden have collaborated on British TV projects for decades, predating Corden’s US late night host career. The 2024 Gavin and Stacey Christmas special finale broke UK viewership records.
