Welcome to Indie App Spotlight. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we showcase the latest apps in the indie app world. If you’re a developer and would like your app featured, get in contact. Getting distracted on your Mac can be quite easy at times. MinuteTick is a nifty app that aims to make you more mindful of what you’re doing on your computer – keeping you on task. It also includes little mini games for when you’re in between events, and it all lives in your Mac’s menu bar. What it does Essentially, if you find yourself regularly falling off task or drifting into rabbit holes while browsing, MinuteTick aims to keep you aware by hitting you with little notification chimes regularly. That way, when you hear the sound, it serves as a little mental cue that you need to stay on track. The chimes are non intrusive, and you can customize the intervals as you’d wish. By default, you can set them to occur any x number of minutes, though you’re also free to select whatever you’d like. To step things up a notch, you can also customize the notification text, just in case you’d like to include a little inspiring message. You can include as many messages as you’d like, and the app will rotate between them. Additionally, you can select quiet times. That way, you don’t have these productivity-hacking chimes playing on weekends or outside of work hours. As a cherry on top, the app also includes a game of Snake. That might sound like a distraction, but let’s say you have a few minutes before a Zoom meeting. Instead of falling into some rabbit hole, you can just play snake for a number of minutes. That said, you can also disable this feature if you don’t quite like it. Download the app MinuteTick is available as a one time purchase on the Mac App Store. It’s $1.99 once, and you have it forever. It requires macOS Sonoma 14.6 or later to install. Upgrade your iPhone and save money with Amazon Renewed deals: Follow Michael: X/Twitter, Bluesky, Instagram
