Happy Star Trek Day! While September 8 is a fun holiday for Trek fans any year, 2026 is going to be a big one, marking 60 years since the very first episode of the very first series hit the airwaves in 1966, changing sci-fi’s place in pop culture forever. Paramount is getting the party started early with a bunch of announcements today, including Trek‘s first-ever Lego collaboration as well as a YouTube series aimed at kids that drops today.
While we’re most excited about the Lego news, the collab doesn’t come with any details as of yet. A Paramount press release promises we’ll learn more “soon” (the possibilities for sets are virtually endless; just look at how much Star Wars Lego is out there) with a teaser video to further whip fans into a frenzy:
Other announcements today include Star Trek: Scouts, an animated YouTube series that aims to hook in new Trek fans at the preschool age. Here’s a little more detail from the release:
“Developed and produced by Nickelodeon Digital Studio in association with CBS Studios, Star Trek: Scouts follows three 8-year-old friends, JR, Sprocket, and Roo, as they train to become future Starfleet Explorers by going on epic, out-of-this-world missions that push them to ‘discover, grow, and boldly go!”
Check out the trailer here, and if you like what you see or you have some sci-fi-minded small fry running around, you can watch the first two episodes (they run three to four minutes each) on Nickelodeon’s Blaze and the Monster Machines YouTube channel. The remaining 18 episodes arrive next year.
Star Trek will also be getting a float in the annual Rose Parade—held on New Year’s Day in Pasadena, CA—bringing the attention of college football fans worldwide to Star Trek’s 60th anniversary as well as the imminent arrival of the new live-action series Starfleet Academy.
Still no firm launch date for Starfleet Academy, by the way, beyond “early 2026.” Strange New Worlds will wrap up its current third season this week, on September 11, with seasons four and five still to come.
As was teased from the Hall H stage at San Diego Comic-Con this year, the scripted podcast Star Trek: Khan launches today; as previously announced, it’s a prequel to the events of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, with Naveen Andrews voicing the title character. The rest of the cast includes Star Trek: Voyager‘s Tim Russ as Ensign Tuvok, and TOS‘ George Takei as Captain Sulu. You can listen to new episodes Mondays through November 3 on all the big podcasting platforms, as well as the Star Trek YouTube channel.
Elsewhere online, Star Trek will launch a Webtoon digital comic initiative to celebrate the big 6-0, aiming to connect “with new audiences “by launching original stories that touch on universal genres and themes based in the world of Star Trek.”
To help you keep track of all this celebratory Star Trek information—apparently this is just the first wave of announcements for what’s planned; we’re hoping for some movie news!—there’s now a special 60th anniversary web hub for fans, which you can check out here.
