We may never get another season of Hannibal, but there’s some comfort to be found in Dust Bunny, Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller‘s feature directorial debut—which just so happens to star Dr. Lecter himself, Mads Mikkelsen. He plays a hired killer who befriends his young neighbor after she loses her family; she believes a monster did it, but he’s got an equally scary, more real-world idea of the culprit. Check out the first trailer for Dust Bunny here: Written and directed by Fuller, Dust Bunny also stars Sigourney Weaver and David Dastmalchian. Here’s the official synopsis: “Ten-year-old Aurora has a mysterious neighbor (Mads Mikkelsen) who kills real-life monsters. He’s a hit man for hire. So, when Aurora needs help killing the monster she believes ate her entire family, she procures his services. Suspecting that her parents may have fallen victim to assassins gunning for him, Aurora’s neighbor guiltily takes the job. Now, to protect her, he’ll need to battle an onslaught of assassins—and accept that some monsters are real.” Dust Bunny casts Mikkelsen as a good guy who’s done some very bad things; complicated villains are his specialty and this reunion with Fuller will hopefully capture some of that old Hannibal magic—with what look like some fantastical fight scenes to boot. Dust Bunny hits theaters December 5.
