Apple TV+ has had its strongest year ever, and that only looks set to continue this fall thanks to a packed lineup of new shows and movies. These next four weeks offer a great taste of that, with big new premieres dropping every week. September 17: The Morning Show The Morning Show season 4 somehow manages to pack an even more star-studded cast than prior seasons. It also offers a darker story that tackles the impact of AI on the news—all with plenty of glamorous drama. Here’s Apple’s season summary: “The Morning Show” season four opens in spring 2024, almost two years after the events of season three. With the UBA-NBN merger complete, the newsroom must grapple with newfound responsibility, hidden motives and the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America. In a world rife with deepfakes, conspiracy theories and corporate cover-ups — who can you trust? And how can you know what’s actually real? September 24 & 26: Slow Horses and The Savant Slow Horses season 5 brings Jackson Lamb and his motley crew of misfit MI5 operatives back together again for what looks like another fantastic season. Gary Oldman leads the same great ensemble from prior seasons, joined this go-around by Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed. No doubt an affirmation of Slow Horses’ consistent high bar of excellence, Apple TV+ has already renewed the show for two more seasons. Here’s what to expect from season 5: In season five of “Slow Horses,” everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend, but when a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, the London Rules — cover your back — always apply. The Savant follows two days after Slow Horses, and offers a different sort of crime thriller for viewers. This limited series is based on a 2019 Cosmopolitan story titled, “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?” Jessica Chastain stars as the titular ‘Savant’ who essentially catfishes potential domestic terrorists before they act. Here’s Apple’s series summary: The tense and thrilling series follows an undercover investigator known as “The Savant” (Chastain) as she infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act. The cast of “The Savant” is also led by Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste and guest star Pablo Schreiber. October 3: The Lost Bus The Lost Bus is the one movie on this list. Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera star in this Paul Greengrass-directed film that looks intense, high-stakes, and also very much like an awards contender. Here’s Apple’s summary: From director Paul Greengrass and inspired by real events, “The Lost Bus” is a white-knuckle ride through one of America’s deadliest wildfires as a wayward school bus driver (Matthew McConaughey) and a dedicated school teacher (America Ferrera) battle to save 22 children from the terrifying inferno. October 10: The Last Frontier The Last Frontier is a new Apple TV+ crime thriller that puts dozens of violent inmates on the loose in rural Alaska after a plane crash, overwhelming the local U.S. marshal (played by Jason Clarke). Here’s Apple’s series summary: “The Last Frontier” follows Frank Remnick (Clarke), the lone U.S. marshal in charge of the quiet, rugged barrens of Alaska. Remnick’s jurisdiction is turned upside down when a prison transport plane crashes in the remote wilderness, setting free dozens of violent inmates. Tasked with protecting the town he’s vowed to keep safe, he begins to suspect the crash wasn’t an accident, but the first step of a well-crafted plan with far-reaching and devastating implications.
