Apple today has released visionOS 26, the latest version of its spatial operating system for Apple Vision Pro. While it doesn’t have a dramatic Liquid Glass redesign like the other releases this year, it still has a number of meaningful upgrades that are certainly worth updating for. Spatial widgets First and foremost, widgets are coming to Apple Vision Pro in a real-world way. You can now have photos, weather, calendar, and more – pinned in your environment. They seamlessly integrate into your space, and your Vision Pro will remember where you placed them, even when you leave the room you placed them in. Over time, developers will also release their own apps with spatial widgets – so you’ll be able to have more than just system apps. New personas Personas take another dramatic leap with visionOS 26, and they now look better than ever. They’re more expressive and sharper than before, and this is best demonstrated with a side-by-side comparison: visionOS 26 vs visionOS 2 Shared experiences With visionOS 26, you’ll be able to view content with another Vision Pro user. Whether that be watching a 3D movie, playing a spatial game, or collaborating in a supported app – you can now actually share experiences together with other Apple Vision Pro users. You’ll see their persona in the experience, something that you could previously only do with FaceTime. Spatial scenes Last of the new headlining features is spatial scenes. They utilize a new generative AI algorithm to add an immense level of depth to photos, making them feel more immersive than ever – even more than a typical spatial photo. This feature goes beyond just photos, though. You’ll also be able to appreciate spatial scenes in Safari, the Spatial Gallery app, and third-party apps. One of the already announced third party apps is Zillow, where you’ll be able to see real looking scenes of a house or apartment you’re shopping for. Other visionOS 26 features There’s even more in visionOS 26, including: PS VR2 controllers for gaming (though you can’t buy these quite yet) Logitech Muse support for spatial drawing (also can’t buy this quite yet) An all-new Jupiter environment Native playback for 180 and 360 degree content Redesigned control center Phone call relay from your iPhone Folders in home view Additional languages for Apple Intelligence If you don’t yet have an Apple Vision Pro and this new update tempts you – don’t buy quite yet! Rumors suggest that there’ll be an updated version of Apple Vision Pro with an M4 or M5 chip launching in October. It may also launch in Space Black.
