If you didn’t see Fantastic Four: First Steps in theaters or just want to see it again, you can on digital starting September 23.
The latest Marvel Studios will arrive on all the usual platforms, followed by a physical launch on October 14. Along with the standard deleted scenes, special features include a gag reel, commentary track with director Matt Shakman and production designer Kasra Farahani, and three featurettes centering the heroes, their comic book villains, and the film’s retrofuturist world.
Set in an alternate world, First Steps sees the Fantastic Four—Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Richards-Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bassrach)—as global celebrities who’ve solved pretty much all of Earth-68’s problems. Just as Reed and Sue are celebrating the incoming birth of their child, the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner) comes to Earth heralding the arrival of her master, Galactus (Ralph Ineson), who’ll devour the planet if he doesn’t get Reed and Sue’s baby. The film, which released in late July, garnered generally solid reviews and made $518.8 million.
The Fantastic Four will appear next in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, which’ll unite them and two separate Avengers teams against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. They may also already have a sequel locked in for after all the multiverse shenanigans have come and gone, if Marvel’s vague release calendar is anything to go by.
