The new AirPods Pro 3 comes with silicone foam ear tips which differ from those used in previous models, and 9to5Mac’s Chance Miller said in his review that they offer “a noticeable improvement in fit.” Apple has now offered its advice on getting the best fit with the new ear tips, applying both subjective and objective tests … Even if you’re a seasoned AirPods Pro user, you may still need to adopt a different ear tips size this time. That’s because the company told us that users have tended to find they need a smaller size than usual this year. AirPods Pro 3 also come with five ear tips in the box (up from four on AirPods Pro 2 and three on the original AirPods Pro). The new option is an XXS size, which joins the existing XS, S, M, and L tips. The medium size remains the default. One insight I learned talking with people at Apple Park last week is that users are gravitating towards sizing down with AirPods Pro 3 in comparison to the prior generations. So if you wear the medium-sized ear tips with your AirPods Pro 2, make sure you try the small size with your AirPods Pro 3. They are still supplied with the medium size attached as standard, and Apple does still recommend trying this one first. Try inserting the AirPods with the medium-sized ear tips in your ears so that the AirPods are seated comfortably and securely. If you can’t get a good seal, try adjusting the AirPod or switch to a larger ear tip. If the ear tip feels too large in your ear or is uncomfortable, try a smaller ear tip. Once you’ve found the size that feels most comfortable and secure to you, you can ask your iPhone to carry out a test of the seal using the new Acoustic Seal Test for AirPods. This replaces the Ear Tip Fit Test used for earlier models. With your AirPods Pro in your ears and connected to your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Bluetooth. Tap the More Info button next to your AirPods in the list of devices. If you have AirPods Pro 1 or AirPods Pro 2, tap Ear Tip Fit Test. If you have AirPods Pro 3 and iOS or iPadOS 26 or later, tap Acoustic Seal Test. Tap Continue, then tap the Play button. If the test suggests adjusting or trying a different ear tip, try adjusting your AirPods Pro and testing again. Then try a different size. You might need different sizes for your left and right ears.
