At the start of the summer during WWDC, Apple announced that car keys in the Wallet app would soon be offered by 13 new vehicle brands. Now, it looks like the first three new brands might almost be here. Three new car key brands now ready for Wallet support in Apple’s backend, pending launch In a new post on X, Aaron Perris shared that Apple’s backend has recently been updated to get ready for the launch of two car key additions: Smart and Voyah. Additionally, in recent weeks a similar change was uncovered for Rivian. The company’s second-gen R1S and R1T are due for car key support, and following the discovery, Rivian confirmed Apple car keys were coming soon. When new brands and vehicles add car key support, it’s a two-step process. Both Apple and the automaker need to “flip all the switches” to activate car keys inside Wallet. Now, at least on Apple’s end, the Wallet app is ready for car keys to come to vehicles from: Rivian Smart Voyah These were all included in Apple’s full list of 13 new vehicle brands getting ready to support car keys. The backend activation by Apple implies these three brands will be officially launching support very soon. We’ll keep you posted when official announcements are made. But understandably, Apple is likely to prioritize the brands that are nearly ready to launch over those that aren’t quite there yet. Ultimately, I hope these new brands do start launching support any day now and the rest of the 13 brands follow suit before long. Apple said “soon” back in June. And while I wasn’t necessarily expecting any car key launches over the summer, now that iOS 26 is officially here with big Wallet app changes and new CarPlay features, it’s a great time to start rolling out additional car key support.
