For DJs, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of mixing tracks and building the perfect set. Now, Spotify Premium users will be able to access their entire libraries and playlists directly within desktop DJ software from rekordbox, Serato, and djay. These integrations are available in 51 markets, making it faster and easier than ever before to experiment and blend your music to create the most unforgettable set.
Accessing Spotify is simple, no matter which of the supported DJ apps you use:
Open your preferred DJ software (rekordbox, Serato, or djay) on desktop. Log in to your Spotify Premium account within the DJ software. Pull up your favorite playlist or tracks from Spotify to mix. Start mixing in real time using your DJ software’s built-in tools.
If all of this sounds somehow familiar, that’s because the company has done this before and then changed its mind. Engadget notes that Spotify’s support ended in 2020 over what was believed to be rights issues. Whatever the problem, it’s clearly now been resolved.
So far, support appears to be limited to the desktop apps on Mac and Windows. There’s no word on possible expansion to mobile DJ apps.
