Microsoft is bringing another big Xbox game to PS5 later this year. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the latest instalment in the franchise, is arriving on PS5 on December 8th. Sony revealed the release date for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 during its State of Play today, and also teased that Asobo Studio is working on PS VR2 support for Flight Simulator 2024.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on PS5 will support the adaptive triggers found on Sony’s DualSense controller, and communications from air traffic control towers can even play through the controller speaker. “Gyro controls, lightbar support, and a customizable touchpad further enhance the immersion during flight,” explains Asobo Studio.
PS VR2 owners will be able to play the whole game through the headset and Sense controllers with a free update that will be available in 2026, according to Asobo. The PS5 version of the game will also continue to be updated with free world updates and sim updates.
Asobo Studio is also holding a beta for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on PS5. You can sign up to test the game early here, and make sure you select PS5 on the second question. Preorders for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on PS5 also begin today, ahead of the December 8th release.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 originally launched on Xbox and PC in November 2024, complete with hot air balloon trips, aerial firefighting, and more. Asobo Studio has also added commercial flight, air ambulances, and aerial advertising.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is the latest in a long line of previously Xbox-exclusive games that have arrived on PS5 in recent months. Forza Horizon 5 launched on PS5 earlier this year, as well as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Hellblade II, and Gears of War Reloaded. Sony has even launched a PlayStation console exclusive on Xbox, with Helldivers 2 quickly becoming a best-selling game on Xbox earlier this month.
Microsoft is also bringing Xbox games to the Nintendo Switch 2, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle set to launch on Nintendo’s new console at some point in 2026.
