Leading anime streaming service Crunchyroll is launching a new manga app that will offer an ad-free digital library of some of the genre's most popular titles. Set to hit Canada and the US first, Crunchyroll Manga will arrive on Oct. 9 for iOS and Android, with the web version to follow on Oct. 15. The anime giant announced the news Thursday, saying that the app is a separate platform that will be available as an add-on to its streaming service. Anime subscribers who already have Crunchyroll's Ultimate Fan plan will be able to get Crunchyroll Manga at no extra cost. But, there are different price tiers for the other anime plans, outlined below: Crunchyroll Fan subscription with Manga is $12 per month in the US ($15.50 CAD), which includes the Manga add-on at $4 monthly ($5.50 CAD). Typically, the Fan subscription is $8 per month. Crunchyroll Mega Fan subscription with Manga is $15.50 a month in the US ($17.50 CAD), and includes the Manga add-on at $3.50 monthly ($5 CAD). A standalone Mega Fan subscription runs $12 a month. You can use the manga app on tablets, phones or the web. Crunchyroll Unlimited reading on the app isn't the only feature, as you'll also be able to download chapters, use dark and light mode or customize reading lists to your tastes. Titles you'll see at launch include releases from publishers like Viz Media, Square Enix, Yen Press and more, such as One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, My Dress-Up Darling, The Summer Hikaru Died and Delicious in Dungeon. Crunchyroll plans to beef up the library with additional publishers and books in the future.
