The new reMarkable Paper Pro Move hit the shelves earlier this month, and it comes in with a much smaller form factor, akin to an iPad mini. This new smaller reMarkable paper tablet is also a lot cheaper, making for a rather interesting comparison between the two. When I reviewed the full-sized reMarkable Paper Pro earlier this year, I also wrote up a comparison to the iPad Air, so I figured it’d be fitting to do the same here, since both products go after very similar niches. This time around, I think the reMarkable Paper Pro Move fares better, for one big reason: price. reMarkable Paper Pro Move comes in at $499 with the Marker Plus, compared to iPad mini which costs $499 without any Apple Pencil. Once you add in the Apple Pencil Pro, iPad mini is closer to $630. So, if you’re looking for a small tablet for note-taking – is iPad mini or reMarkable Paper Pro Move the better option? iPad mini advantages iPad mini is actually a bit larger than the reMarkable Paper Pro Move, packing an 8.3-inch display, versus 7.3-inch on the reMarkable. If you want the largest surface area for note-taking or drawing while still being decently small, the iPad mini wins out a bit there. There’s also the simple advantage of iPadOS. You can browse Safari on an iPad, play games, and even multitask. An iPad will always do a lot more. It even has all of the great new windowing features of iPadOS 26. reMarkable advantages With the reMarkable Paper Pro Move, the main thing you’re buying is distinction. It offers a distraction-free experience, separate from the rest of your Apple ecosystem. No notifications, no apps, no texts to distract you. This can be particularly useful if you’re taking notes in class or something, where you’d like to remain focused. Plus, I think there’s something to be said about having different tasks on different devices. At least personally, I find it very useful, rather than using one device for everything. It makes it a lot easier to not get distracted. Lastly, the reMarkable Paper Pro Move is obviously built for note-taking. It has a nice matte display that feels just like paper. The battery also lasts 2 weeks, so you don’t have to worry about charging it all the time. That could come in handy if you’re throwing it into a purse or handbag, or otherwise care a lot about the footprint of the device.
