The upcoming OnePlus phone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. OnePlus showed off its next flagship phone, the OnePlus 15, in all its glory over the weekend. It also confirmed a global launch for its next product. Earlier, there were doubts regarding the OnePlus 15's global availability because the company didn't launch its OnePlus 13T / OnePlus 13S outside of China and India. And it had an unusual reaction to the tariffs with its Watch 3 price hike. However, it has finally been confirmed that the next OnePlus flagship will come to the US as a follow-up to my favorite value-for-money Android flagship, the OnePlus 13. It appeared in multiple photos on Chinese social media in a "sand storm" color variant. This looks like a departure from the signature OnePlus design as it trades the circular camera module of the OnePlus 13 in favor of a new design -- borrowed straight from the OnePlus 13T. And this camera module design isn't the only element that it's borrowing from the Asia-exclusive phone. OnePlus is also adding the customizable Plus Key shortcut button on its upcoming flagship. It resides in the same place as the Action Button on your iPhone and allows you to easily save information to a dedicated "Mind Space." Like the iPhone's Action Button, it can be customized to suit your preferences. Also: Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs. OnePlus 13: I compared the best Android phones, and it was very close The sand storm variant looks great in photos. It seems to have a slightly textured back. OnePlus has confirmed that it sports a fiberglass back and houses a ceramic-coated metal frame. It is claimed to be tougher than either aluminum or titanium. The OnePlus 15 will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, which promises excellent video performance, efficiency gains, and improved on-device personalized AI features. It will feature a 165Hz refresh rate display. However, there is no word on the screen size yet. Like last year's launch timeline, the OnePlus 15 is speculated to debut in China next month and come to the US later. For reference, the OnePlus 13 was released in the US in January 2025, after being launched in China late last year. No Hasselblad cameras for OnePlus 15 OnePlus While the OnePlus 15 looks like a strong contender for another value-for-money flagship, its cameras will lack the Hasselblad color science. OnePlus confirmed earlier that its tie-up with the Swedish camera manufacturer is over. As a result, the OnePlus 15 is likely to miss out on my favorite and underrated camera feature, the XPAN mode. When announcing the in-house camera engine, OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau took to Chinese social media and posted, "The message was consistent: our users want images that are clear and real. Most don't care about technical jargon, but they know the first thing they do is pinch to zoom in on their photos. That's where the camera really gets judged." Also: Changing these 10 settings on my OnePlus phone gave it a big performance boost The OnePlus 15 will come equipped with OnePlus DetailMax Engine, which is said to be "designed from the ground up to deliver the clearest and most real photos on a smartphone." It is touted to harness the "full potential of computational imaging to present scenes as they truly are, without over-beautification or distortion," according to Lau. OnePlus isn't known for its cameras, and the Hasselblad color science was always inconsistent on its flagships. It remains to be seen if it'll be able to deliver a more reliable camera performance than its predecessor, but the in-house DetailMax Engine has big shoes to fill.
