AirPods Pro 3 may be getting all the attention out of Apple’s September event, but that’s not the only pair of Apple-owned wireless earbuds worth considering. Beats, which is owned by Apple, just unveiled its new PowerBeats Fit. They drop the ‘Pro’ branding and change up the look and feel. In this generation, which is the successor to the Beats Fit Pro from 2021, Beats gave the wireless earbuds a small redesign. The fitness-focused wireless earbuds still have the characteristic wingtip design, but the tips are 20% more flexible, and the charging case is also 17% smaller. Those new wingtips are designed to be more secure and comfortable, according to Beats, and while they may not seem like much, they are apparently the product of “years of research.” See Beats Powerbeats Fit at Amazon There are some more practical upgrades, here too, if maybe not the most exciting. That includes four ear tip sizes (up from three): extra small, small, medium, and large. Extra small is the new addition here. That doesn’t quite top the AirPods Pro 3’s five different sizes, but it should be plenty of options for the majority of ears. Beats says its Powerbeats Fit are still sweat and water-resistant with an IPX4 rating and can withstand the elements, so you won’t have to worry about running in the rain or snow. AirPods Pro 3, for what it’s worth, are IP54 rated, so actually dust resistant. Also new are a couple of colors, including orange and pink, the former of which should match your Cosmic Orange iPhone Pro. Sorry, AirPods Pro 3, the PowerBeats Fit have you beat there. Battery life is about the same as the last generation, with 6 hours outside of the case while using active noise cancellation (ANC) or 7 hours with ANC off, and you’ll still get a transparency mode for when you want to hear more of your surroundings. The case has 30 hours of battery life without ANC and 24 hours if you’re using ANC. Like many other wireless earbuds, you’ll also get adaptive EQ so that you can tailor the sound to your hearing and the fit in your specific ear. I’ll be honest, there’s nothing revolutionary on paper about the PowerBeats Fit, but maybe all the time that Beats spent honing the design will truly make them a lot more comfortable. In any case, these wireless earbuds cost the same as the former generation when they debuted ($199) and will be available to order today and on shelves starting on Oct. 2.
