Apple has a new wave of beta software rolling out now, and iPadOS 26.1 developer beta 2 is available for download. Here are the details.
iPadOS 26.1: New features and changes so far
iPadOS 26.1 debuted two weeks ago in developer and public beta releases. And now its first iteration is here.
Apple has just released iPadOS 26.1 beta 2 for developers. A public beta version should arrive in the next day or so.
The first beta included:
Redesigned Downloads panel in Safari
Overall, it was a big release for Apple Intelligence expansions, but not a lot besides that.
Since that was only the first beta, we may see additional new features introduced in today’s beta 2 release.
Apple typically releases its x.1 software updates in late October, so there’s plenty of time for changes still in the beta cycle.
The expansion of Apple Intelligence into new languages might mean there are some additional AI features coming in iPadOS 26.1. Or, since the timing of the public release lines up with when we’re expecting a new M5 iPad Pro, perhaps some of the new features will be saved for that device’s unveiling.
