Since we're almost at the end of the year, I'll be the first to come out and say that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the best foldable phone I've tested in 2025. It beats what Google, Motorola, and OnePlus are offering, and Samsung has introduced upgrades meaningful enough to warrant the accolade. That's why during Amazon's October Prime Day sale, the latest discounts on Samsung's flagship foldable phone are worth acknowledging. If you've been eyeing an unlocked model with no strings attached (read: locked carrier plans and trade-in requirements), now is the best time to pull the trigger. Also: Best Amazon Prime Day deals 2025: Our 75+ favorite sales this October I tested the Z Fold 7 this summer and was quickly amused by the new and improved form factor. This year's Samsung foldable features its thinnest and lightest design ever, so much so that I found it a breeze to replace my traditional handset with it. Fortunately, the slimmed-down design doesn't compromise performance much, as the Z Fold 7 comes equipped with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, 12GB of RAM, and 200MP main camera found on the flagship S25 Ultra model. The enhanced camera has been a long-time drawback of the Z Fold series, so it's great to see Samsung correct its path in 2025. Review: The most impressive piece of tech I've tested in 2025 (and it isn't smart glasses) Changes aside, the Z Fold 7 remains a fantastic device for multitasking, gaming, and any other mobile needs that require a large screen. When unfolded, the 8-inch internal display is ideal for opening split-screen apps, floating windows, and more. Personally, I've been taking advantage of the extra real estate to compare Uber and Lyft prices when I'm traveling, browse restaurants in my neighborhood, and play games while watching sports. All of this typically comes at a higher cost, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 costing upwards of $2,120, depending on the amount of base memory you want. But for a limited time, Amazon is selling the 512GB variant for $1,719, a $400 discount that everyone can appreciate. Foldable phones are still very expensive, so we'll take anything we can get. This deal is for the unlocked model as well, so you're not obligated to use it strictly with one carrier for multiple years. Looking for the next best product? That makes this deal qualify for a 3/5 rating by ZDNET's scoring standard. Keep in mind that it applies to the 512GB variant and every color. When will this deal expire? While many sales events feature deals for a specific length of time, deals are on a limited-time basis, making them subject to expiring at any time.
