A new Apple short film called The Underdogs: Blue Screen of Death has been posted to the company’s YouTube channel as part of an occasional series that was first launched back in 2019. Eight minutes long, it’s a gentle comedy that highlights the built-in security features of Macs while also showing off a whole range of the company’s ecosystem features … Apple posted the latest video this morning, which you can watch below. The Underdogs are ready for their first-ever trade show until a PC outage strikes and the Blue Screen of Death threatens their beloved Container Con. Thanks to the security of their Apple products, the Underdogs are unaffected and experience extraordinary success. See how the magic of Mac, iPhone, and iPad comes together to help the Underdogs meet potential clients, bag new business, and even lend a hand to a fellow packaging company. This is Apple at Work. The primary message is the security features built into macOS, which is contrasted with PCs at a trade show suffering the blue screen of death after an attack. Along the way, it quietly showcases a whole range of Apple ecosystem features, including AirDrop, adding contacts by photographing business cards, and answering a call on the Apple Watch and transferring it to the iPhone. Previous shorts in the Apple at Work series were released in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024. The most recent of these was not well received. The point of controversy was the ad’s depiction of Thailand. Various scenes showed the co-workers navigating the country. Responses online have condemned the ad for misrepresenting Thailand as underdeveloped and behind the times. Apple said it collaborated with a local production company in Thailand for that video, but the criticism persisted, and the video was quickly pulled. Hopefully this one will fare better. The film links to the security section of the company’s enterprise microsite. Security. At the core. Apple security takes care of business. Kernel-level protection is designed to safeguard your system against breaches, outages, and unauthorized access. Seamless protection. Apple silicon works with macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and visionOS to deliver advanced hardware and software security. And the Secure Enclave is designed to protect sensitive data such as encryption keys and biometrics by isolating them from the main processor. Watch the film here: Highlighted accessories Image: Apple
