ZDNET's key takeaways The OnePlus Pad 3 This is one of the best Amazon Prime Day deals on an Android tablet. You should buy the Folio Case The OnePlus Pad 3 is one of the most powerful and feature-rich tablets on the market today. It won ZDNET's Editor's Choice award at launch, and I have been using it on and off for the last couple of months. There's not much to fault here… apart from that keyboard accessory. It is a solid iPad alternative, and I'd pick it over the Samsung Galaxy Tab, especially at the new 15% off deal price on Amazon Prime Day. The OnePlus Pad 3 was launched at $700 as one of the most powerful Android tablets on the market. And Amazon Prime Day sale discounted it by $105, to bring the price down to $595. This iPad rival is a more lucrative buy than Samsung's Galaxy Tabs right now. If you are in the market for an Android tablet, here's why I think you should consider the OnePlus Pad 3. Also: The best Prime Day tablet deals we've found OnePlus Pad 3 is a multimedia powerhouse Kerry Wan/ZDNET The new OnePlus Pad features a bigger screen, a larger battery, and an even better speaker system, as compared to its predecessor. I've used it as my media consumption device as well as a productivity machine, and this is one of the few Android tablets that gets both right. The OnePlus Pad 3 offers a 13.2-inch LCD in a 5.97mm body. While I'd have loved to get an OLED panel at this price, the big screen is sharp and bright. It doesn't match the signature OLED contrast, but it is a decent panel and supports a 144Hz refresh rate, making Oxygen OS 15 feel more intuitive. From Netflix to YouTube, I've loved watching videos and consuming media on this product -- thanks to the eight speakers (two more than before). They are loud and clear enough for you to watch movies and TV shows without needing a Bluetooth audio device. Also: The tablet that easily replaced my Kindle and iPad now has a worthy successor The OnePlus Pad 3 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which is the same as the flagship OnePlus 13 phone, It is fast, powerful, and I haven't noticed any lag or stutter in my use over a period of three months. It also offers the best multitasking experience on an Android tablet with Open Canvas, OnePlus' multi-window feature that allows you to have up to three active apps on the screen. Kerry Wan/ZDNET However, if you're going to use the OnePlus Pad 3 for productivity, I recommend buying a third-party Logitech Bluetooth keyboard and mouse alongside the OnePlus Folio case. The company's kickstand-style Smart Keyboard is flimsy and almost unusable on a lap and on smaller tables. A Bluetooth keyboard wouldn't solve the lap issue but it would help improve your typing experience. That said, I love OnePlus' new Folio Case. It is an origami-style back cover, which supports several orientations, is less bulky, and makes for an ideal accessory for casual browsing and viewing. The OnePlus Pad 3 also offers great battery life. As ZDNET's Managing Editor, Kerry Wan noted in his review, the Pad 3 "managed to last 13 hours and 32 minutes in my endurance test. That consisted of playing YouTube videos on Wi-Fi with the screen at full brightness, and beats the 13-inch iPad Pro (M4) with 8 hours and 22 minutes, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+, which is rated at 10 hours and 41 minutes." This is topped by 80W wired charging, which is rated to charge the tablet from 0 to 100% in about one hour and 15 minutes. If you are looking past the amazing M3 iPad Air deal, and want a powerful Android tablet for both work and play, the OnePlus Pad 3 would be the best buy sale season. Based on up to 15% off savings being offered, ZDNET's rating system gives this a 3/5 Editor's deal rating. I've added a point for OnePlus Pad 3's value-for-money proposition. After all, you are getting a flagship Qualcomm processor under $600. The OnePlus Pad 3 is one of the best combinations of power and entertainment in the Android tablet land, and Amazon's deal price is the most enticing discount on this OnePlus product.
