With a prompt, you can get song or podcast recommendations. The feature is open to both paid and free Spotify users. At yesterday's OpenAI DevDay, OpenAI revealed how it's working to incorporate ChatGPT into a number of apps like Canva, Zillow, and others. One of the first of those app collaborations is here, as Spotify has announced the ability to let ChatGPT recommend music on its platform. Also: Everything OpenAI announced at DevDay 2025: Agent Kit, Apps SDK, ChatGPT, and more If you're not sure what you want to listen to or want a little help building the perfect playlist, you can ask ChatGPT for help. Starting today, both free and paid users can let AI find the perfect songs or podcasts. You could already ask ChatGPT for song recommendations, of course, by detailing what you like to listen to or telling it what vibes you wanted, but this feature lets AI make recommendations based on what you already listen to and then put those playlists or tracks right into your Spotify. How to use ChatGPT in Spotify Here's how the feature works: While chatting with ChatGPT, mention Spotify. The first time you do this, you'll be asked to connect your Spotify account (this is entirely opt-in, and you can connect or disconnect at any time). Ask ChatGPT for songs, podcasts, artists, playlists, or albums. You can say things like, "Make a workout playlist from the artists I listen to regularly," or ask for recommendations based on vibes, themes, or moods. Once your list is generated, you can tap a track to open it in the Spotify app. If you're a free user, you can source songs from Spotify playlists that are already on the app, including Discover Weekly and New Music Friday. If you're a premium user, you'll be able to turn more elaborate prompts into "a fully personalized selection of tracks." Also: ChatGPT can buy stuff for you now - forever changing online shopping For the best results, Spotify recommends being as specific as you can. Instead of asking for general recommendations, add details like genre, mood, or artist for music, or a topic, host, or guest for podcasts. Spotify says it's continuing to work on its personalization technology, along with the expertise and insights of its human editors, so there's a song for every moment. The company notes that it's still "early days" for this feature, so every request might not be available yet.
