It’s a big year for Critical Role and its extended universe. The flagship series is celebrating 10 years since that first season back in 2015, and it just kicked off Campaign Four. The hit Prime Video animated series The Legend of Vox Machina has its fourth installment coming soon—with a fifth and final entry also on the way—and another animated show is soon to arrive on the streamer: The Mighty Nein, which drops November 19.
Fans got an early peek at the show at this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con, but now we’ve got a full New York Comic Con trailer to get our best look yet at The Mighty Nein.
According to a Prime Video press release, “The Mighty Nein follows a group of fugitives and outcasts, bound by secrets and scars. But when a powerful arcane relic known as ‘The Beacon’ falls into dangerous hands, they must learn to work together to save the realm and stop reality itself from unraveling.”
It’s a pretty standard quest setup, but you can bet the quirky denizens of Exandria will bring unique fun to the adventuring. And now they’ll have some new friends along: at the NYCC panel, it was announced that The Mighty Nein‘s stacked guest cast will include Anjelica Huston, Lucy Liu, Nathan Fillion, T’Nia Miller, Felicia Day, Graham McTavish, and Ivanna Sakhno.
The previously announced main cast is no less impressive. It features Ming-Na Wen as Dairon, “a secret agent monk and martial arts expert”; Anika Noni Rose as Marion, “an upscale courtesan and performer”; Alan Cumming as eccentric circus ringmaster Gustav Fletching; Tim McGraw as a sea captain named Vandran; Mark Strong as Trent Ikithon, the “Archmage of Civil Influence for the Cerberus Assembly,” who’s also secretly an elite wizard assassin; and Auli’i Cravalho as a teenager who’s managed to tame “a ferocious Devil Toad.”
The Mighty Nein didn’t get the only spotlight at today’s panel; fans of The Legend of Vox Machina learned Wayne Brady will be coming aboard season four as Taryon Darrington, along with new guest cast members Kevin Michael Richardson, Debra Wilson, and Tom Cardy.
The Mighty Nein is a collaboration between Amazon MGM Studios, Critical Role, and Titmouse, and it hits Prime Video on November 19.
