The first two episodes of Apple’s new Gordon Ramsay-produced series are now available. Here’s what you need to know about this high-stakes culinary documentary. ’The human stories behind the pursuit of perfection’ If you’ve ever watched The Bear, or are simply into the culinary world, you know the drill: high-end cuisine and high-stakes drama usually go hand in hand. And while The Bear dramatizes the chaos of fine dining, Apple has taken the documentary route with an eight-episode series following real restaurants, their chefs, and teams as they strive to earn (or keep) the coveted Michelin stars. Here’s Apple on the new show: “Filmed in cities from Los Angeles to London, Mexico City to Copenhagen, each chef attempts to win a Star or face the crushing blow of losing one, as the Michelin Guide’s team of inspectors use false identities and phone numbers to dine anonymously.” Hosted by Topjaw’s Jesse Burgess, Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars is now available on Apple TV+, with its first two episodes ready to stream. The first episode, “Some would say he’s a genius”, tells the story of a New York “fried chicken joint with big ambitions and a new restaurant in a subway station aim to impress the secret inspectors.” Meanwhile, the second episode, “Bleeding cash”, takes viewers to Chicago, “where a new Mexican-inspired opening needs a Star to survive.” Upcoming episodes will also include visits to the Nordics, the U.K., Mexico, Italy, and California. New episodes will premiere every Friday.
