The new Telegram update brings its own implementation of Apple’s Liquid Glass design, and it works even if you’re not running iOS 26.
Liquid glass, frosted glass, and multiple welcome tidbits
Over the weekend, Telegram rolled out an update on iOS that introduced multiple interesting features, as well as a Liquid Glass-like menu bar. Here’s what it looks like:
Telegram for iOS now features an updated Liquid Glass interface to match iOS 26. The bottom navigation bar, keyboard, sticker panel, and more all feature transparent elements with a satisfying refraction effect as you scroll.
Since this is a custom implementation rather than native Liquid Glass support, the update also brings an adapted version of the new interface even if you’re not currently running iOS 26, as noted by multiple users on X:
Alongside the visual overhaul, the update also brought a series of interesting new features:
Comments and Reactions in Group Calls: Participants in group calls and video chats can now send comments and reactions directly in the call interface to share thoughts during the conversation. Notes for Contacts: When adding or editing a Telegram contact, you can now include a private note — to help you remember how you met, where they work, or their favorite ice cream flavor. Suggested Birthdays: When editing someone’s contact info, you can suggest a birthday to add to their profile — so their friends can help celebrate it with Telegram gifts and thoughtful messages. New Profile Color Settings: You can now change your profile appearance directly from the main Settings page. In addition to the preset color options, you can select a gift to use its backdrop and symbol on your profile cover. Threads and Streaming Responses for AI Bots: Bots now support threaded conversations to manage several different topics in parallel. This is especially useful for AI chatbots — and lets users easily access information from previous topics.
The update also introduced a new interface, as well as increased flexibility and security in the app’s gifts marketplace, and a mini app version of its bug reporter.
