Apple has just shipped iOS 26.1 public beta 3, one day after shipping beta 3 for developers. Here’s what’s new in the latest release.
iOS 26.1 beta 3 brings new Apple TV app icon, Local Capture controls, and more
iOS 26.1 continues to be refined and expanded ahead of its wide public launch.
Today’s public beta 3 includes the standard bug fixes and performance improvements that are typical in later-stage betas. But it also brings a few other additions.
The Apple TV app has a new icon, no doubt to match the forthcoming “vibrant new identity” that’s expected with the rebranding of Apple TV+ into just ‘Apple TV.’
Apple’s TV app icon has been updated to the new look across all platforms, including iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and more. However, inside the TV app you’ll still find abundant references to ‘Apple TV+’ as the rebrand hasn’t fully rolled out yet.
Also new in iOS 26.1 public beta 3, the Settings app has a dedicated menu for Local Capture.
Available from Settings ⇾ General ⇾ Local Capture, the menu lets you set a Files location where audio and video recordings captured on calls will be saved.
Settings also has a new ‘Prefer Single-Touch Actions’ toggle. Presumably this is related to the new alarm and timer change that replaces a ‘stop’ button with a new slide gesture. But in my testing, the setting so far doesn’t appear to be working.
Control Center has gotten bouncier animations in beta 3, too, as seen below.

That’s it for user-facing changes that we’re aware of.
Under the hood though, iOS 26.1 beta 3 also shows Apple preparing to add more third-party AI integrations alongside ChatGPT.
The company could add a new integration as early as iOS 26.1, but a later update like iOS 26.2 seems more likely.
