Apple and Martin Scorsese have an interesting relationship. From ads promoting Siri, to a hilarious cameo on the hit comedy series The Studio, the legendary director has always been around, one way or another.
Now, the new Apple TV documentary Mr. Scorsese retraces his journey, from his humble beginnings as the child of immigrants, to his rise as one of Hollywood’s all-time greats, behind classics like Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Casino, The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, The Departed, The Last Temptation of Christ, Gangs of New York, and Mean Streets. With exclusive, unrestricted access to Martin Scorsese’s private archives, the documentary series is anchored by extensive conversations with the filmmaker himself and never-before-seen interviews with friends, family and creative collaborators including Robert De Niro, Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger, Robbie Robertson, Thelma Schoonmaker, Steven Spielberg, Sharon Stone, Jodie Foster, Paul Schrader, Margot Robbie, Cate Blanchett, Jay Cocks and Rodrigo Prieto, along with his children, wife Helen Morris and close childhood friends. From acclaimed director Rebecca Miller, “Mr. Scorsese” examines how his own colorful life experiences informed his artistic vision as each film he made stunned the world with originality.
