If you like your HBO Max, you’ll be paying more starting today. The streaming TV service has increased prices on all three of its plans, effective immediately. This prices standard HBO Max above standard Netflix. HBO Max prices are going up by $1 to $2 per month from today. Here’s the new breakdown: Basic with Ads: $10.99/month Standard: $18.49/month Premium: $22.99/month The new prices compare to the last price hike initiated last year: Basic with Ads: $9.99/month Standard: $16.99/month Premium: $20.99/month Is HBO Max worth more per month than Netflix? The folks at Warner Bros. Discovery think so, at least for the standard version without ads. These are the current monthly prices for Netflix in the United States: Ads: $7.99/month Standard: $17.99/month Premium: $24.99/month Standard HBO Max was previously $1/month less than standard Netflix. Now it costs $0.50/month more than Netflix. This can only mean one thing: Netflix price increases are coming. Well, that’s always true. Anyway, this all makes Apple TV+ Apple TV, which has no ads, more palatable at $12.99/month. Annual HBO Max prices are also up, but buying a year of service at a time will still save you 16% on any plan compared to paying monthly. Meanwhile, HBO Max parent company Warner Bros. Discovery is officially considering selling all or part of the company. Raising those HBO Max prices should only make the company more valuable.
