Webtoon is adding a new short-form video feature on its digital comics platform to continue to build out its multifaceted storytelling offerings. Many of Webtoon’s heavy hitters will get companion video episodes to supplement ways to experience its vast library. The English-language version of the app will kick off this feature with voice-acting narration, motion, and a score to highlight visual storytelling in a new way. Fourteen Webtoon originals will now include five-minute video episodes in batches of 20. More new episodes will drop throughout 2025. Here are the titles included in the release: Angel of Death Do You Like Tomboys? Down to Earth Jackson’s Diary Love 4 a Walk Morgana and Oz Osora Red Spine SHIRAI Star Catcher Suitor Armor The D!ckheads The Mafia Nanny Vampire Family Yongsoo Kim, chief strategy officer and head of global Webtoon, shared in the release, “Innovating to create new storytelling formats and experiences is part of our DNA at Webtoon Entertainment. We know there’s a massive appetite for short-form video among Gen Z. With Video Episodes, we’re making webcomics watchable, expanding how fans can enjoy Webtoon series with a feature that can deepen engagement, help creators reach more users, and deliver a new medium for amazing stories.” One of Webtoon’s popular current creators, Jessica Ramsden (Star Catcher), shared, “The creative team’s passion and dedication for this innovative project and their eagerness to involve my feedback made this an amazing experience. I loved choosing the voice actors and watching their personalities bring my series to life. I cannot wait for my audience to experience this new video version of Star Catcher!” There will also be video episodes for upcoming titles, which could include the major IP Webtoon landed during its recent deal with Disney. In that deal the platform acquired recently published works such as Amazing Spider-Man (2022-present), Avengers (2012), Star Wars (2015), Alien (2021), and Disney As Old As Time: A Twisted Tale. Additionally, the deal also brokered new original stories from the studio. Video episodes of current titles can be found on the Webtoon app on Google or iOS.
