Apple has released a new round of beta firmware for AirPods testers, AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 are both receiving build 8A5343a, an update from the 8A5324b version that rolled out in July.
This marks the second firmware release since Apple introduced its public beta program for AirPods earlier this summer. The program has made it significantly easier for users to install firmware updates, and today’s release is the first update since the program’s initial launch.
The new software gives testers an early look at several iOS 26 features. Among them are automatic pausing when the user falls asleep, studio-quality audio recording, the ability to use AirPods as a camera remote, smoother automatic switching when using CarPlay, and improved voice quality on calls.
For now, the changes are limited to AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4. Those interested in trying the beta can follow Apple’s enrollment process for the AirPods developer or public beta program. Both are free and include a much easier update process than previous versions.
