The DCU/The Batman, Part II
During his recent appearance on the I Think You’re Overthinking It podcast (via Screen Rant), James Gunn stated The Batman, Part II will “hopefully” begin filming before his mysterious Superman follow-up.
I can say that probably the next movie we’re gonna be making is the follow-up to Superman, which I don’t want to get into too much detail on, but like that’s what’s probably the next film we’re making, I think. Well, hopefully we’re making The Batman 2 before that, and then I think it’s [the Superman follow-up]. And then we have another TV show, which nobody knows about, which is going next. And then a lot of that other stuff is still in different stages of development. We got The Brave and The Bold is still going well, and Wonder Woman, and Paradise Lost, and Booster [Gold.] So all those other things are still going down the road. Some of the things have changed a little bit [like] The Authority, but most of those things are all in process. But I am not going to make any of them until there is a screenplay that I’m happy with.

Scream 7
In an interview appearing in Ashley Cullins’ new book, Your Favorite Scary Movie: How the Scream Films Rewrote the Rules of Horror (via Bloody-Disgusting), Kevin Williamson revealed Neve Campbell requested Scream 7 lean into the suspense of Wes Craven’s original over the spectacle of the last two films.
Neve wants to go back to the first one and find the suspense and really concentrate on scary and not bloody. She was smart. She goes, ‘This is the time to do it because we’re moving away from New York. We’re going back to Sidney’s life. This is the time to reset a little bit. And I’m like, ‘Yup, let’s do it.’ I have made it very clear, I think publicly too, that Sidney has been through so much torment, and she has been through so much trauma, that to give her anything less than a happy ending is mean. It’s just sacrilegious.
Citizen of the Galaxy
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Jay Oliva will direct a new animated adaptation of the previously unadapted Robert Heinlein story, Citizen of the Galaxy. Published in 1957, the book follows an orphan sold into slavery, whose life is forever changed when a chance encounter thrusts him into the stars.
Deathstalker
In conversation with Variety, guitarist/producer Slash discussed remaking Chuck Cirino’s Deathstalker theme for the upcoming remake with both Bear McCreary and Cirino, himself.
One of the great things about being a producer is I get to get involved in the music. We wanted to do a remake of the Deathstalker theme, and I’m good friends with Bear McCreary, so I called him and it turns out he’s a big Deathstalker fan and a fan of Chuck Cirino, the original composer for the original song. So we thought, “Let’s remake the song: We’ll get a live band and we’ll do it like that.” So we went into a studio, Bear and I and some musicians and Chuck. And we did a great version of the original theme song. It was just a blast to do. That’s how it all came together.
