Making payments on your iPhone is easy with Apple Pay. But what about those occasions when you need to input credit card details on a website or in a form? Not so easy. Fortunately, iOS 26 has the fix I’ve always wanted thanks to new AutoFill support for credit cards. The problem with accessing saved credit cards iOS 26 is packed with big updates for Apple Wallet, including a new feature that lets you manually save full credit card details for your Apple Pay cards. But Apple has long had a separate system, built into Safari, that saves full credit card info. That Safari feature uses AutoFill to suggest saved credit cards when you’re inputting payment details on a website (as seen above). The problem is, those suggestions often aren’t there when you need them. Occasionally I see AutoFill suggest a credit card that can be used, saving me the hassle of manually inputting card details. But far too often, that suggestion is missing. I suspect this has to do with sites not following Apple’s expected standards for denoting a payment field. In any case, I regularly encounter situations where I need credit card details for a website or online form, and I have to manually find and add them. Fortunately, iOS 26 has the perfect fix. Credit cards are now available in iOS 26’s systemwide AutoFill menu In iOS 26, Apple has added a new option to the systemwide AutoFill menu. No matter what app you’re using, regardless of whatever field type you’re trying to fill out, you can find all of those saved Safari credit cards via the systemwide AutoFill menu. This is the menu that you’ll see when you tap within a text field—historically called the ‘copy/paste menu’ or ‘contextual menu.’ AutoFill has long been an option in that menu, and on many occasions I’ve gone there hoping to find credit card info. But it previously only offered Contact, Passwords, and Scan Text options. Now, Credit Cards has been added as a fourth option, letting you benefit from that saved credit card info whenever and wherever you need it—no manual input required.
