Apple has announced a handful of new initiatives to support the National Park Foundation in celebration of its 109th anniversary. This includes donations for Apple Pay purchases, an Apple Watch activity cahllenge, and more.
First, from August 22 to 29, Apple says it will donate $10 to the National Park Foundation for every purchase made with Apple Pay at Apple Stores, in the App Store app, or on its website. This represents the ninth straight year of this initiative by Apple.
As we reported earlier this week, Apple is also holding an Apple Watch activity challenge on August 24 to celebrate National Parks. If you complete this challenge, you’ll unlock a virtual trophy as well as animated stickers that can be used in Messages, FaceTime, and more.
On August 24, let’s celebrate the great outdoors and the world’s national parks. Earn this award by recording any workout of 20 minutes or more with any app that adds workouts to Health.
Here are other ways Apple is celebrating national parks through the rest of the month:
A new selection of Time to Run episodes for Fitness+ inspired by National Parks.
A collection of the best apps for hiking outdoors on the App Store, along with the National Park Service app.
A dedicated National Parks guide in Apple Maps with thousands of hikes.
A curated collation of National Parks-related podcasts in Apple Podcasts.
