Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 in white. Kerry Wan/ZDNET Follow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. Bluetooth trackers are a handy piece of technology because they provide a cheap and easy way to locate lost items like your keys or pets that made a break for it. One of the better options out there is the Galaxy SmartTag2, which is currently on sale. On Samsung's website, the single-pack Galaxy SmartTag2 is retailing for $21, a 30% price drop. This deal applies to both the black and white color options. If you want extra accessories, the four-pack SmartTag2 bundle costs $70, also a 30% discount. Between the two, we would recommend purchasing the four-pack at $70, because, if you do the math, that comes out to about $17.50 a piece, cheaper than the single pack. Also: Samsung offers $250 discount on its latest Galaxy S25 model - multiple retailers included The Galaxy SmartTag2 is Samsung's most recent Bluetooth tracker model (we're still waiting on the SmartTag3). It improves on the company's first GPS tracker in almost every regard, from better location accuracy to a more pocketable design. Additionally, these trackers are built with a key ring so they can stay with your accessories at all times. You could, for example, attach a SmartTag2 to your luggage, so you always know where it's located. In fact, it supports both Bluetooth and ultra-wideband (UWB), meaning you'll be able to track its location via Samsung's SmartThings app from as far as 120 meters to as close as just centimeters. It's important to note that the pocketable device has an IP67 water and dust resistance rating to withstand the rigors of the road. Coupled with its ease of use, the SmartTag2 is a no-brainer for traveling. Also: The best Bluetooth trackers you can buy Where the SmartTag2 outperforms the Apple AirTag (and other competitors like Tile and Chipolo) is in battery life. The company rates the SmartTag 2's endurance at up to 700 days with Power Saving Mode. Even with the feature turned off, you can expect about 500 days before needing to swap the battery. Compared to the AirTag, which lasts about one year before needing a replacement. The one caveat with the Galaxy SmartTag 2 is that it only works with Galaxy phones, so we recommend it to Samsung users and Samsung users only. How I rated this deal As per ZDNET's rating system, we grant this deal a 4/5. $30 off is a pretty significant discount. What's particularly interesting is that this is the same deal from 2024. It was also 30% off a year ago. Whether or not the timing of this discount means or hints at anything remains to be seen. It has been nearly two years since the launch of the Galaxy SmartTag2, so Samsung could be clearing out inventory. Regardless, I strongly encourage Galaxy owners to take advantage of this deal while it lasts. When will this deal expire?
