tvOS 26 is coming soon for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD users, and today’s beta 8 developer release should be the most stable version yet of the forthcoming software. A new model of Apple TV 4K hardware is coming this fall, and could be introduced as soon as the iPhone 17 event in a couple of weeks. But Apple also has a major software release coming soon. tvOS 26 is expected to launch to all users in mid-September. It includes new features like: Today’s beta 8 release for developers should be very close to what ships publicly to all users next month. That’s because it’s expected to be the last beta before the RC (release candidate) version of tvOS 26 arrives. tvOS 26 has been in beta testing since early June, but the month of August in particular has focused largely on performance and stability improvements. Apple wants to eliminate as many bugs as possible before the wide launch next month.
