Rising prices from inflation and tariffs have left many of us paying more for everything and anxious that higher costs are coming. And yet, AAA projects a record 45.1 million Americans will travel during the Memorial Day holiday weekend this year. We're all ready for a vacation, and a three-day trip could be a nice break from the regular routine without breaking the budget.
The majority of travelers will go by car, with 87% choosing to take a road trip, according to AAA. That is likely due in part to sinking gas prices, which have dipped all the way down to an average of $3.17 per gallon for the Memorial Day weekend, according to the latest number from the US Energy Information Administration.
