Last week, the number of people filing for jobless benefits rose to the highest level in months. The Trump administration's cuts across federal agencies, health organizations and nonprofits have led to some 300,000 layoffs. Employers have been reducing personnel and freezing plans to hire new workers. There have been mass cuts across the tech industry, entertainment and education.
