I'm willing to bet you've got at least one old laptop, desktop or printer in your home that's taking up space in an office or a closet. While it can be hard to let go of them, there are plenty of easy and sustainable options for their disposal. Some stores will even give you store credit for offloading your old tech.
Recycling such items can be as simple as bringing them to major retailers like Best Buy, Office Depot and Staples. Throwing away your old devices is illegal, and can draw large fines in some states, including in California. Recycling is a necessary habit to get into. According to a UN report last year, people worldwide are throwing away about five times more gadgets than are being recycled.
