OpenAI wants ChatGPT to 'know you over your life' with new Memory update

OpenAI is upgrading ChatGPT's memory feature with the ability to remember and reference all the past conversations.
The Memory feature isn't new and has been around for more than a year. With Memory, ChatGPT can save conversations, especially when you ask the AI to remember something.
For example, if you ask ChatGPT to remember that you don’t like bullet points, it will avoid using them in future chats.
However, the catch is that ChatGPT cannot remember everything and it could mix up conversations after some point.
This changes with the new version of Memory.

In a post on X, OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman confirmed that ChatGPT Memory can now reference all your past interactions.
"This is a surprisingly great feature imo, and it points at something we are excited about: ai systems that get to know you over your life, and become extremely useful and personalized," Sam wrote.
