When I see an athlete's photo in Connections: Sports Edition, I always know I'm in trouble. I am terrible at recognizing athletes, especially in a tiny head-and-shoulders shot. That's a sign that the game has earned enough loyal players that The Athletic, the subscription-based sports journalism site owned by the Times, will continue to publish it.
