One UI 7 should have been Samsung’s best update in years. Now, it’s the worst

Easily Samsung’s biggest Android update in years, One UI 7 has ample new features and a much-needed fresh coat of paint across the board — making it the most enjoyable piece of Samsung software I’ve used in a long, long time. Simultaneously, Samsung has botched the release of One UI 7 to a degree I didn’t think was possible. It took a mysteriously delayed beta program, followed by months of additional delays and poor communication, before Samsung finally started rolling out One UI 7 to the public on April 10 — six months after Android 15 came to Pixel phones. And just a few days later, Samsung paused the rollout out of the blue. Such a poorly handled update would have been frustrating regardless, but it stings all the more so considering that — messy release aside — One UI 7 is pretty damn great.
