Sinners Is No Longer Playing in IMAX, But It’ll Be Back Soon

The nature of an IMAX release is movies only have a limited of time to play on those screens until the next movie hits. That’s especially true over the summer when seemingly every single big release is either shot for, or upscaled to, a bigger-scale IMAX. And so that’s why, starting today, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is very unlikely to be playing in IMAX anywhere near you, despite it being optimized for the format. But there’s good news. Warner Bros. just announced that Sinners will be back on 70mm IMAX screens (those are the biggest, best, and most limited ones) from Thursday, May 15 to Wednesday, May 21, and tickets are on sale now. “Audiences have spoken and we listened,” Jeff Goldstein, President of Global Distribution, Warner Bros.
