ESPN is launching a new, flagship streaming service this fall that combines everything you get from its network channels into one standalone streamer. Official details on the streamer are coming next week, but the name just leaked, and I think we all owe Disney a round of applause.
ESPN’s new streamer will be called “ESPN”
This fall’s new ESPN streaming service will differ from ESPN+, which has existed for years (and will continue as a separate product).
The new streamer will be the real deal of ESPN programming. Not a skinny off-shoot of secondary offerings. True flagship ESPN content, just like you’d get on cable.
And per Alex Sherman at CNBC, Disney’s team has nailed the name:
At long last, ESPN has chosen a name for its upcoming all access streaming service. Ready? It’s “ESPN.”
Yes, the flagship ESPN streamer will just be called “ESPN.”
