'FBC: Firebreak' preview: Controlled chaos

A successful co-op shooter feels like a bottomless tub of popcorn, hot and smothered in golden butter, built for bite-sized consumption and impossible to resist. Smooth mechanics and a satisfying, repeatable loop should draw you in for one more bite, one more round, over and over again. FBC: Firebreak, Remedy Entertainment’s co-op shooter set in the universe of Control, almost hits these marks. It just needs a little more salt. Remedy is a AA studio best known for crafting single-player games like Alan Wake and Control, which feature Lynchian mysteries and hellish twists, and Firebreak is the studio’s first attempt at crafting an online, cooperative, first-person shooter.
