Project Liberty's plan to decentralize TikTok could be the blueprint for a better internet

The fight over the future of TikTok's US operations has been a roller coaster, to say the least. In January, the Supreme Court upheld the decision to ban the app in the US because its Chinese owner, ByteDance, had failed to sell it to a US-based company. However, President Donald Trump granted the company a 75-day extension to find a buyer.
Just before that deadline arrived on April 5, Trump granted another 75-day extension -- this time to navigate the fallout of his tariffs on China.
"The Deal requires more work to ensure all necessary approvals are signed, which is why I am signing an Executive Order to keep TikTok up and running for an additional 75 days," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. "We hope to continue working in good faith with China, who I understand are not very happy about our Reciprocal Tariffs (Necessary for Fair and Balanced Trade between China and the U.S.A.!)."
