Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, positioned as a step above its previous flagship mobile chipsets. The company is marketing this variant as its most powerful processor yet, aimed squarely at high-end Android devices competing with Apple's upcoming iPhone lineup.
Qualcomm announced its next flagship mobile chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, built on a 2nm process with an eight-core Oryon CPU, a 35% faster Adreno GPU, and an NPU that's 14% faster with 20% better performance-per-watt. The chip supports 8K video at 30fps, up to 320-megapixel photo capture, and connectivity including Wi-Fi 8, Bluetooth 6 and a new 5G modem, with an unspecified Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 variant offering additional features on the same architecture.
OPPO has launched the Find X10 Pro Max in China, becoming the first smartphone to pack three separate 200MP camera sensors—a main, ultrawide, and periscope telephoto lens, all with Hasselblad tuning. The phone runs on MediaTek's new Dimensity 9600 Pro chip and houses an 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi has detailed the Smart Privacy Display on its upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro series, which alternates standard wide-angle pixels with narrow-angle pixels fitted with microscopic baffles in a 1:1 ratio. When privacy mode is switched on, the standard pixels turn off so only the baffled pixels emit light, cutting visible brightness to about 1% for viewers beyond 60 degrees.
