Report: iPhone 18 Pro 20th-anniversary design to keep curved four-side display, drop two panel upgrades

ETNews reports Apple is still on track to give next year's iPhone Pro models a four-sided bending display that curves around all edges for a near-borderless look. However, the report says Apple will hold off on two display technologies previously rumored for these models: Color Filter on Encapsulation and Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide Plus.

AT&T gives no timeline for supporting Apple's iPhone Handoff feature

Apple's new iPhone Handoff feature, which shifts a phone number between two iPhones automatically, requires carrier support. AT&T told CNET its focus remains on other innovations and pointed to existing eSIM transfer tools instead of committing to Handoff. T-Mobile currently supports the feature for $5 monthly, Verizon plans to add it by year-end, and Telekom Germany and EE are involved internationally.

Test finds under-display selfie cameras still trail regular sensors, ahead of iPhone Duo launch

Android Authority compared selfie shots from three phones with under-display cameras—the REDMAGIC 11 Pro, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max—against the backdrop of Apple's iPhone Duo foldable, which uses an under-display selfie camera for the first time. The tester found the REDMAGIC's photos oversharpened and smeared detail, while the Z Fold 8 produced more natural results despite a lower megapixel count, and the Redmi phone showed splotchy textures despite its 32MP sensor.

Apple opens iOS 27.2 public beta with redesigned Health app and Quest Diagnostics lab booking

Apple has released the first public beta of iOS 27.2, following two developer betas, bringing the redesigned Health app first shown at the iPhone 18 Pro event to public testers. The update also enables scheduling and paying for lab tests through Quest Diagnostics directly in the Health app, with a listed price of $119. Other changes carried over from the developer beta include dual capture in Group FaceTime, expanded Siri language support, and interface tweaks to Podcasts and Apple Music.

Apple details CarPlay customization options including iOS 26 widgets

Apple CarPlay users can rearrange app icons via their iPhone's Settings > General > CarPlay menu rather than the car display itself, and iOS 26 adds widgets for weather, calendar and clock with a Smart Rotate feature that swaps them automatically. Users can also adjust brightness with Automatic light/dark mode and customize wallpaper and icon colors through CarPlay's own Settings menu.

Apple adds Tap to Pay on iPhone in eight Latin American countries

Apple announced that Tap to Pay on iPhone is now live in Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, and Peru, backed by six payment platforms including Mercado Pago, SumUp, Symbiotic, Geopagos, Azul, and Visa Acceptance Solutions. The feature lets merchants accept contactless debit and credit card payments directly on a compatible iPhone without extra hardware. This brings the total footprint of Tap to Pay on iPhone to 59 countries and regions since its 2022 US debut.

Apple reportedly developing Handoff feature to share one number across two iPhones

A new feature said to be in development for iPhones would let a single phone number be used across two devices, with calls and activity handed off seamlessly between them. The report suggests this could appeal to users who want to carry both a standard iPhone and a specialized device, such as a rumored foldable 'iPhone Duo,' without managing separate numbers.

Lexar unveils 3.8mm Muse SSD with magnetic connector for iPhone ProRes recording

At IFA Berlin 2026, Lexar showed its new Muse SSD, a drive just 3.8mm thick at its thickest point that tapers to 1mm at the edges. It comes in 512GB and 1TB capacities, offers up to 1,050 MB/s read and 1,000 MB/s write speeds, and uses a proprietary PogoPin connection with a magnetic SnapLink cable instead of USB-C. Lexar says it supports direct external ProRes 4K recording at up to 120 fps on compatible iPhones.

iPhone 18 Pro adds variable aperture camera, keeps $100 premium over 17 Pro

Apple's iPhone 18 Pro shares nearly identical dimensions, weight and 6.3-inch OLED displays with last year's 17 Pro, but adds a variable aperture camera for exposure control, a slightly smaller Dynamic Island supporting three Live Activities, and a redesigned vapor cooling chamber. It costs roughly $100 more than the 17 Pro and drops the orange color option available on the prior model.
